Where the wires actually go
This is the part that separates a built-in unit from a piece of furniture. We plan the cable runs before anything is built: a ventilated compartment for the box and the router, holes drilled where they are needed rather than where they end up, a channel behind the unit for the cable to the screen, and a socket moved or added if the existing one is in the wrong place. Kit gets hot, so closed cupboards are built to breathe. Done properly you see the television and nothing else.
Alcove, whole wall, or under the window
In a Victorian terrace the natural home is the alcove beside the chimney breast, often paired with shelving above. In a knocked-through room or a newer flat a full-width run works better, sometimes with wall panelling behind the screen so the television reads as part of the joinery. Rooms with a low bay window suit a long low unit that keeps the sightline clear. We measure the room, the screen and the kit, and design around all three.
